Your creative chaos, organized.

Organizing your creative ideas and reference materials efficiently can make your storytelling journey seamless. Fortelling’s file system helps you manage images, notes, and other documents easily.

Types of files supported

You can store and organize different types of files:

  • Images: Uploaded from your device, imported directly from Pexels, or created using Fortelling’s avatar creator.

  • Notes: Text notes created within Fortelling.

  • Uploaded Files: PDFs and other document types.

Folders

Fortelling enables you to order your notes in folders. You can create a folder the same way you can create a note. All folders are always at the top of the list above the notes.

Creating folders & files

To add new files:

Files

Order and digitize your notebook within Fortelling. Create notes for background lore, letters, or any other written information you have for your story. When searching, Fortelling looks across all folders, not just the one you’re currently in, to ensure you never miss a file.

Filtering and ordering

Customize how your files are displayed in the list view:

  • Filter files by labels you’ve assigned.

  • Order files by:

    • Alphabetical order

    • Creation date

    • Recent edits

    • Custom order

  • Files marked as favorites appear at the top of your list.

Context menu

Tap the context menu (three-dot icon) on any file for quick actions:

  • Favorite/Unfavorite: Highlight important files.

  • Details Pop-up: View type, file name, creation info, modification info, and visibility settings.

  • Visibility Control: Set permissions for collaborators (Admin, Editor, Viewer) or generate a public link. (Available with Fortelling Pro collaboration features.)
